David H Brooks is the award-winning filmmaker and director of animated television and commercials, notably and most recently Ultra City Smiths for AMC.
Since directing Christmastime for the Jews for Saturday Night Live in 2005, Brooks’ work has been focused on animation, specifically stop-motion touching on hybrid live-action as well as 2d and CG. In 2021, Ultra City Smiths, created by Steve Conrad, released to wide acclaim, hailed by critics as “the Sistine Chapel stop-motion animation” (EW), “meticulously constructed flashes of pure beauty” (Indiwire), and “an exotic bloom amid the endless rows of spider plants” (NY Times).
Currently, he is developing an adult animated television series and a feature film. He has directed commercials for Target, Carl’s Jr., Goldfish Crackers, Ziploc, Denny’s, and many others. He lives in Los Angeles with many plants he’s trying very hard not to kill.
